Title Low Power Motion Detection Network
Abstract This motion detector network is a group of low power wireless sensor nodes distributed throughout a region to detect human motion. The sensor nodes are designed around the MSP430 microcontroller and uses Texas Instruments (TI) CC2480 chip to easily implement a Zigbee communications network. Each sensor node uses pyroelectric infrared sensors with Fresnel lenses to detect motion and is powered off 2 AAA bateries. The MSP430 utilizes its low power modes so that the sensor node can last longer in the field without regular maintenance. The sensors nodes send detection information back to a base station where data is processed and compared with other nodes to determine how many subjects are moving through the region.
